Backlinks

The links you have, and the ones worth earning

No tool can create backlinks for you — they're earned on other people's sites. What Kitbase does is find the ones that matter and tell you where to earn more, using the analytics and AI citation data you're already collecting.

What you get

Four views on your link profile

Three of them need nothing new — they read data you already collect. Only the fourth calls an external index.

Sources

Every visit carries the page that sent it. When a domain sends its first visit, that's almost always a link that just went live — so you learn about it the moment it starts working, with the traffic it actually drives attached.

Reads your existing web analytics referrers

Reclamation

The highest-ROI link work is often one you already have. When an external site links to a page of yours that now returns an error, that value is leaking. Reclamation finds those pages so a single redirect recovers the link.

Requires a completed site content index

AI opportunities

The third-party domains AI engines cite when answering questions about your category, ranked by how often they appear in answers where your brand is absent. The biggest gaps come first.

Link graph

Referrer detection only finds links that send traffic. Most don't. The link graph fills in the other half from an external index: total referring domains, the exact linking pages, anchor text, dofollow status and authority rank.

Target the sites that shape the answer

When someone asks an AI engine what the best tool for something is, the engine cites its sources. The sources it cites for your category — where you aren't mentioned — are exactly the sites worth a link or a listing.

Field What it means
Domain A third-party site AI engines cite for your prompts.
Type What kind of source it is — review site, community, news, docs.
Citations How often it was cited across the aggregated analyses.
Gap prompts Prompts where you're absent but this domain is cited — the priority signal.
Already linking Whether this domain also shows up as one of your detected backlink sources.
Detected from traffic

Know about a link the moment it starts working

Search engines, social networks, AI assistants and your own domain are excluded automatically, so the sources list is genuine third-party links rather than noise. A notification fires the first time a recent backlink is detected — in-app and to any webhook subscribed to backlink_detected.

  • Existing history is loaded silently, so you're not flooded on day one
  • Dismiss a domain you don't care about, and restore it any time
  • Untapped — links you've earned that have never sent a visitor, highest authority first
  • Lost — domains the index no longer sees linking to you at all

Competitor gap

Who links to them but not to you

Domains linking to at least one tracked competitor but not to you, ranked by how many competitors they back and then by authority. Nofollow links, redirect-inferred links and near-zero-authority domains are dropped, so it stays a ready-made outreach list rather than a dump.

  • Filter by a single competitor to go after one rival's link sources
  • Only dofollow, direct links count toward the gap
  • The filter offers the competitors the last refresh actually compared against
