Ahrefs crawls the web with its own bot, which is a different thing from telling you whether GPTBot or Google-Extended fetched your pages. They don’t run JavaScript, so no tag sees them either.

Don’t replace Ahrefs
Worth stating plainly, because comparison pages tend to imply otherwise. Nothing on this list replaces Ahrefs’ backlink index, keyword database or Site Explorer. If you leave Ahrefs to save the Brand Radar add-on fee, you’ll lose considerably more than you save.
The real decision is whether to add something. Two questions settle it.
Can you tell whether AI crawlers read your pages? If not, and citations are moving, that’s the gap. No suite reports it.
Do you need to separate mentioned from cited? Being named in an answer without your domain being cited is a different problem from being absent, and it needs different work. If your module reports one blended figure, you’re averaging away the distinction.
