What Cloudflare partially has, and what it doesn’t
Worth being precise, because Cloudflare occupies an unusual position here.
Cloudflare does see bot traffic, because it sits at the edge rather than in the browser. Its bot management and AI crawl controls show and control what’s hitting you, which is more than any JavaScript analytics tool can offer. That’s a genuine advantage of the platform position.
What it doesn’t do is attribute AI crawlers with verification and per-path detail as a first-class product, or connect crawl activity to whether the engines then cite you. Its analytics product and its bot product are separate concerns, and neither is built around the AI visibility question.
Kitbase
Kitbase provides cookieless web analytics with autocapture, custom events, funnels, journeys, retention, page durations, realtime and rage and dead click detection, on a server-side anonymous ID, plus:
Verified AI crawler detection. Requests forwarded from your server or edge, resolved to a named crawler and vendor and checked against that crawler’s published identity, with per-path crawl frequency. There’s a Cloudflare Workers forwarder, so if you’re already on Cloudflare the integration is a Worker rather than an infrastructure change.
AI visibility. Up to ten answer surfaces, with presence rate splitting brand mentions from domain citations, share of voice with a dense rank across every tracked brand, cited pages classified by ownership and source type, and per-mention sentiment, recommendation status and list position.

Staying on Cloudflare and adding what’s missing
If you’re on Cloudflare, the cheapest sensible path isn’t necessarily replacing the analytics.
Keep Cloudflare Web Analytics for basic traffic numbers, since it costs nothing and needs no script. Add a tool for whichever specific gap is blocking you.
Need events and funnels? Umami self-hosted, or Plausible.
Need to know which AI crawlers read your pages, verified? That needs server-side or edge collection. A Cloudflare Worker forwarder handles it without touching your origin.
Need to know whether AI engines cite you? That’s not analytics at all: it requires querying the engines directly with your prompts, which is a different kind of tool entirely.
