Kitbase vs Amplitude: Behavioural Depth vs Discovery Measurement

Kitbase vs Amplitude compared on cohort analysis, experimentation, privacy posture and the AI crawler and citation layer product analytics lacks.

Amplitude is one of the deepest behavioural analytics products available. Kitbase measures something Amplitude was never built to see: whether AI engines read your site and recommend you. These aren’t competing purchases so much as adjacent ones.

We build Kitbase. For product analytics, Amplitude is far ahead of us.

What Amplitude does that we don’t

Behavioural cohorts and predictive analysis. Segment users by any behavioural pattern, track those segments over time, and in its higher tiers model which behaviours predict retention or churn. This is category-leading work.

Experimentation. A full A/B testing suite wired to the same event data, so tests are analysed against the behavioural metrics you already track.

Journey and pathing analysis. Where users go, where they drop, which paths correlate with conversion, at a granularity built for product decisions.

Session replay in its current product, alongside the quantitative data.

Enterprise data governance. Taxonomy management, event approval workflows, and the controls large organisations need to stop event schemas rotting.

If your job is deciding what to build next, Amplitude answers that better than anything in this comparison.

What Kitbase does that Amplitude doesn’t

Cookieless by default. A server-side anonymous identifier, so anonymous web analytics needs no consent banner. Amplitude’s model centres on identified users, which fits product work and carries consent obligations on anonymous marketing traffic.

AI crawler detection. Amplitude collects via JavaScript and SDKs. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot don’t execute JavaScript, so they never appear. Kitbase reads requests forwarded from your server or edge, resolves each to a named crawler and vendor, verifies the claim against published identity, and reports per-path crawl frequency.

AI visibility. Up to ten answer surfaces, with presence rate splitting brand mentions from domain citations, share of voice with a dense rank across every tracked brand, cited pages classified by ownership and source type, and per-mention sentiment, recommendation status and list position.

Frustration signals without replay. Rage and dead click detection as direct signals.

Marketing-side tooling. Backlink opportunities from the domains AI cites where you’re absent, a link marketplace, a site audit and keyword research.

Where the budgets sit

The useful frame is which team pays.

Amplitude comes out of a product budget and answers product questions: what to build, what drives retention, which experiment won. Kitbase comes out of a marketing or growth budget and answers discovery questions: can AI engines read our site, do they recommend us, does that traffic convert.

Companies large enough to have both functions usually end up with both kinds of tool, and the overlap is small. Companies with one budget should buy for whichever question is currently unanswered, and for a lot of teams in 2026 that’s the discovery side, because product analytics has been solved for a decade and AI-era acquisition measurement hasn’t.

FAQ

Can Kitbase replace Amplitude? No. Its cohort analysis is basic and it has no experimentation or replay.

Does Amplitude track AI crawlers? No. It collects via JavaScript and SDKs, and AI crawlers don’t execute JavaScript.

Is Amplitude cookieless? Not by default. Its model is built around identified users and profiles.

Which is more expensive? Amplitude is enterprise-oriented and typically the larger line. Kitbase publishes plans from $99 a month.

Do product teams need AI visibility tracking? Only if discovery is a growth constraint. If acquisition is solved and retention is the problem, Amplitude is the better spend.
