Rankshift is built for agencies reporting on many clients. Kitbase is built for a team going deep on one property. Both track AI visibility competently, so the decision is about workflow shape rather than measurement quality.

We build Kitbase.

Rankshift’s case

Nine LLMs tracked, with multi-client MCP support and BI connectors available from the Professional tier.

The BI connectors are the part that matters for agencies. When you’re reporting on twenty clients monthly, the bottleneck isn’t collecting the data, it’s getting it into whatever your clients see: a Looker dashboard, a white-labelled report, a spreadsheet the account manager maintains. A tool that pipes into your existing BI stack removes hours a month per client. Tools without that path quietly cost you a person.

The multi-client MCP support is a newer version of the same idea, letting an assistant query across accounts rather than one at a time.

If you’re an agency, that operational fit usually outweighs any individual metric on a comparison table.

Kitbase’s case

Kitbase supports multiple projects, five on Starter, twenty on Pro, unlimited on Business, with roles and audit logs from Pro, so agency use works. It isn’t optimised for it. There’s no white-labelling, no native Looker connector, and no client-facing report builder. Data comes out through a REST API, webhooks, exports and an MCP server, and you’d build the presentation layer yourself.

What it offers instead is depth on a single property.

Verified crawler data. Requests forwarded from a client’s server or edge, resolved to a named crawler and vendor, and checked against the crawler’s published identity before counting. Per-path crawl frequency, with forwarders for Next.js, Vercel, nginx and Cloudflare Workers. This requires a code change on the client’s site, which is a real friction in agency work and a reason many agencies won’t bother.

Cited sources, classified. Exact pages the engines lean on, tagged as yours, a competitor’s or third-party, and typed from user-generated content through to editorial.

The full answer picture. Up to ten surfaces, with mentions and citations counted separately, share of voice with a dense rank across every tracked brand, per-mention sentiment, recommendation status and list position, and automatic detection of competitors the engines named that you don’t track.

Conversions. Cookieless web analytics on the same events pipeline, with funnels, journeys, retention and rage-click detection.

Which shape is yours?

Choose Rankshift if you run an agency, you report to clients monthly, and getting data into a BI tool without manual work is the difference between profitable and not. That’s an operational requirement and it should outrank feature depth.

Choose Kitbase if you’re in-house on one or a few properties, you can put a forwarder on your own edge, and the questions you can’t currently answer are about causation rather than presentation.

There’s a hybrid worth mentioning for agencies with a small number of high-value retainers: Rankshift or a similar tool for the reporting layer across all clients, and something with crawler data for the two or three accounts where the work is deep enough to justify a code change. It’s more tooling, but reporting and diagnosis genuinely are different jobs.

FAQ

Does Kitbase support agencies? It supports multiple projects with roles and audit logs, but there’s no white-labelling or native BI connector, so client-facing reporting needs building.

How many engines does each track? Rankshift covers nine LLMs. Kitbase reaches ten surfaces on Business, with fewer on lower plans.

Does Rankshift track AI crawlers? Not as of writing. Kitbase, Hall, Scrunch AI and Profound report crawler activity.

Why does crawler tracking need a code change? AI crawlers don’t run JavaScript, so a tag can’t see them. Detection works by forwarding requests from your server or edge, which means a small integration on the site.

Which is better value for an agency? Rankshift, on workflow fit. Kitbase’s price includes analytics, crawler detection, backlinks and a site audit, which is better value only if you’d otherwise buy those separately.
